Weekend Warriors – Christmas Edition

Christmas may be coming, but fantasy basketball never stops. Perhaps you’ve been a little too busy this week doing your last minute shopping to check your fantasy team, and looking at it for the first time last night, found yourself down in a couple of categories.

Don’t worry, I’m here to help.

There are three teams that play both tonight and tomorrow – the Suns, Jazz, Blazers – so to help win this week, we’ll have to channel our Kings of Wishful Thinking and Go West.

This entire discussion has to begin with Jared Dudley. He’s been red-hot over the past week given his newfound playing time and probably isn’t still available in your league, but if he is, grab him and thank me later.

Dudley’s teammate Shannon Brown has been inconsistent this season, but he’s broken the 20-point mark in back-to-back games, so he could be in the midst of a hot streak worth riding through the weekend.

If you need some more points, Blazers forward Luke Babbitt has broken double-digits in three straight games. He doesn’t do a ton else, although he did have eight rebounds in his last game, but some of his points do come via the three-pointer so he could help in two or three categories.

If you’re willing to grab a player for just one game over the weekend, there are some interesting opportunities. Jammer Fredette has come on of late and is getting a chance to replicate his college scoring. He’s been maddeningly inconsistent over his brief career, but he’s getting more minutes and shots recently and has scored in double-figures in four straight games.

If you’re in need of rebounds and/or blocks, Bismack Biyombo is back to playing the way he did last year, picking up boards and blocking shots. He doesn’t score, but he does near double-digit rebounds frequently and is averaging two blocks per game of late.

Depending on your needs, there are still some options to salvage your holiday weekend, you know, fantasy wise.

Happy Holidays everyone.
