Typically when we go digging, we come up with a usable but flawed player that may be able to help you in a few categories, with points rarely being one of them. But this week, we have something better for you.
Suns guard Jared Dudley, who also qualifies as a forward in many leagues, automatically giving him additional value, has been on a scoring rampage of late. In his past four games (all stats below are entering Wednesday night’s game), Dudley has averaged 18 points per game and hasn’t played less than 37 minutes in any of them (not an unrelated fact).
But he’s more than just points. Dudley has averaged two steals per game over that time with almost five rebounds and four assists per game. For the season, Dudley is averaging 1.44 three-pointers per game and has shot at a 48.5 percent clip, so he’ll help you there as well.
The flaw is in the playing time. Dudley only carries this kind of value if he’s getting the minutes. He’s averaging less than 28 minutes per game on the season but over 40 minutes per game over the past four games. It’s unlikely that he remains over the 40 minute mark for very long, but if he continues to get starters minutes in the mid-30 range, he should continue to have value.
Dudley is owned in just 66 percent of CBS leagues, so he may still be available in your league. The Suns also have two games remaining this week (Saturday and Sunday) so if you need a late boost this week, he should be far and away the best option available.
